My Musical History

I have had rock guitar in my blood since I was a young pup. I grew up around  Chesapeake Virginia which gave me many opportunities to perform near military bases and nightclubs near Norfolk and Virginia Beach Virginia. I traveled and played on a USO trip to Guantanemo Bay Cuba when I was thirteen years old with my first "paying" band named 'Brutus'. Later at the age of eighteen, I went on the same USO trip with the band Pendulum that was composed of myself, my brother John, and the Cooke brothers Robbie and Randy. Pendulum had several different members over the years but my brother and I were constants throughout the life of the band.

Pendulum toured the southeastern United States for five years from 1975 through 1981. Nick-named 'The Rock of Virginia', Pendulum had a following in several areas and performed at many of the larger rock venues throughout the southeast region. on occasion, Pendulum had the privilege of playing as opening act for such names as Black Oak Arkansas, Brownsville Station, and Nantucket.

In 1977, Pendulum released a single "Not Much More". The song had limited local air play in Panama City Beach, while we performed for the summer at a local resort. I recently found a copy of the song - you can hear it here with the 45RPM record pops and clicks included: 'Not Much More'.

Check out some additional Pendulum pictures here: PendulumPix.

Pendulum was built for fun and party. Wow, did we ever!

After Pendulum closed shop, I joined Jody Hudson and performed with her band 'Gypsy Child'. Jody led the group as an extremely dynamic lady singer who always entertained the crowds, usually with a set of raucous Janis Joplin songs. I learned so much about performing from Jody! Gypsy Child continues to rock today - check out Jody's web site!

After Gypsy Child, I "wandered musically" through several regional Florida acts with a wide variety of musical styles. 'Flashpoint' was a dance and show band that performed at fine hotels and resorts in Florida. The 'Detroit Rodeo' band brought high energy country music to the Central Florida area.

Through the nineties, I played with the rock band 'Out Of Order'. 'Out of Order' always had great musicians who were good friends that loved making loud music together. That is what it's all about, isn't it?

I've been with MaxQ since about 2000. A continuation of great musicians who are good friends that love making loud music together.

I perform occasionally as a single act, playing acoustic guitar and singing for smaller venues and personal engagements whenever a fun opportunity arises.

Here is a single act demo of myself playing an Elton John song: 'Your Song'.

From October 2003 - March 2009 I played lead guitar for the Contemporary Christian Band: Wakin' the Neighbors. In 2007 Wakin' the Neighbors released a CD of all original Christian rock songs. The band played for several local events and provided music for Edgewater United Methodist Church's Rock Service in Edgewater, Florida. For information regarding the CD, please contact me.
